From the Desk of Mike Witzgall:

Greetings all,

Week before last, CME completed our first Advanced SWAT of the year. We had 22 hard charging students from 8 different agencies. The furthest to travel was Officer Kenneth Dunn from Jackson, Mississippi – about six and half hours away. Ironically, Officer Allen L. Bjerke from Texas City, Texas traveled only an hour less to reach his home. Sort of puts it into perspective how big Texas is. Anyway, the class went off without a hitch. I sincerely appreciate the enthusiasm and perseverance of the all of the students. I think that my fellow instructors would agree that Advanced SWAT class 4-12 was one of the very best tactical schools that CME has ever had. Thanks guys!

As this class grew to 22 students, I realized – at the last moment of course – that I would need help keeping the class heading in the right direction. My thanks go to Officer Walt Talent from Kyle PD and Chief Waters and Officers Rodriguez and Pannell from Princeton PD for dropping what they were doing and heading to Cedar Hill to help me. My Cadre is hand-picked. I do not allow just anyone teach for CME – each of these men (and a few others that did not teach with this class) have shown uncommon commitment and dedication to not only CME; but to the SWAT community! As always, I thank each of you… though saying thank-you seems a bit inadequate.

May 14th to May 18th CME is teaching the Team Leader / Team Commander course at Mt. Lebanon here in Cedar Hill. This school is a lot of fun to teach – though the logistics preparation is always very time consuming. So with that, I had better get back to work. If you are in the neighborhood next week, please drop by and visit the class.

Stay safe out there!

Mike
